Great Things Come to Those of A Humble Heart
For He who is mighty has done great things for me. This scripture verse is from when Mary was speaking with Elizabeth (the mother of Jesus’ cousin). She was exalting God for choosing her to be the mother of Jesus. This was most definitely a great thing done by the Lord in Mary’s life. No one else can rightfully claim this great honor which was bestowed upon Mary. The Lord seems to always use humble people to do greater things (Luke 1:48). Moses was the most humble person in the world at that time and period of life, and we know his story of how God used him (Numbers 12:3). The Bible says humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, and He will exalt you in due time (1 Peter 5:6). God does great things in and through the life of any person that has found the answer in how to keep their flesh, mostly their pride levels under control. We can think of ourselves highly, but not more highly than we ought to (Romans 22:3). You might say I don’t recall God doing anything of great significance in my life, but having been born again and made a new creature in Christ is a great thing that was done in your life. Once we really understand the work at Calvary, we will know the mighty, great work God already performed in our lives. It is much easier from a natural standpoint, for a person born in humility and slowness of heart to be more sensitive to the voice of God. We can all get to that point, but it requires more time spent with the Lord than a person born naturally humble. As we humble ourselves He will do great things in our lives.
