Could This Be You?
“Clothe yourselves therefore, as God’s own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper].” Some of us may look at this scripture and say, who is he talking about. We are purified and Holy and well-beloved by God Himself. Most people do not see themselves as such. As our behavior becomes marked by tender hearted pity and mercy, kindness and we have a lowly opinion of ourselves, gentle ways about us, and patient, we begin to line up with God’s words of this text today concerning us. It is how He sees us even when we’re still growing in grace. These Godly qualities are transferred in us at the new birth, when we become christians. It’s our job to allow the fruit of your newly recreated human spirit to develop (Galatians 5:22-23). God says in His word, “Be ye holy for I Am holy” (Leviticus 11:44). The issue with most of us is we don’t want to do the work it takes to get there, and that’s between you and God.
