How Much Can You Take?
“Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but an encouraging word makes it glad”. We must always protect our hearts. What we hear and see are gateways into the heart. What we watch on TV or the internet can profoundly affect our hearts. When we hear or see something all the time, we become attached to it, and it to us, good or bad. Hearing, “you’re no good” all the time will begin to make you feel like you’re no good. Seeing horrible imagery all the time will affect us negatively. To worry is to be overly concerned about something that may never happen. You’re throwing today’s happiness away because you’re using unwarranted energy which belongs to tomorrow, it’s exhausting. The importance of being surrounded by positive, happy people is vital to help keep anxiety and worry at bay. But ultimately, God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a clear thinking mind. There’s no room for worry when a clear thinking mind is in charge. We are human and from time to time an encouraging word can lighten the load and bring gladness.
