To Impress Always is Bondage, and Selfishness is Worse

We are instructed to be humble and value others more than yourselves. We should think highly of ourselves but not more highly than we ought to (Romans 12:3). The pride meter is the word of God working in our lives, which is designed to help keep us in check. By the Lord’s wisdom operating in us, we can stay humble (Proverbs 9:10). Some time or other we all have tried to impress people for our personal gains in life. Our demeanor should show the peacefulness of God right on our faces. Interesting how some people look worn out, beaten down from life’s struggles, and other people have a mostly wrinkle free face, and the presence of peace and calmness is on their facial expressions as well. Not being selfish and not trying to impress others can open a back doorway to success. We are totally free when we can give to people not expecting anything in return (Proverbs 19:17). Encouraging others and lifting them up in a positive way is being humble and treating someone with the respect you’d want to receive for yourself.
