Kindness Begats Kindness, and Evil Thrives on More Evil
We all know what can happen when we pay someone back evil for evil. A bad situation will get worse as we participate with the age old “tit for tat” get even behavior. Repaying evil for evil only breeds more evil. You are playing in the devil’s playground by his rules as you yield to that temptation of, “They started it and I’m going to finish it!” God said, I will repay when someone comes against you wrongfully, especially when you’re involved with the Lord’s business (Romans 12:19). Always seeking to do good to everyone is the ultimate goal in growing our faith. Because it will take faith to deal with some of the unreasonable folk in our lives. Our aim as Christians should be to show kindness to everyone and especially to the household of faith, God’s people (Galatians 6:10). Practicing this kindness many times opens up opportunities to share the gospel. I’ve seen in many cases how my wife, who is more of a people person by nature, through showing kindness has opened many a hurting heart to receive God’s love. Through kindness I’ll suffer something I wouldn’t normally allow myself to, for the sake of the kingdom of God. As we always seek to do good to everyone, we plant a seed of kindness and goodness that will come back to us at a time it is vitally important, and necessary.
