What Does Holiness Mean to You, and Why Do We Need It?

‭There is no one Holy like the Lord. In unpacking what holiness is, we must be led by our spirits in our everyday life. Holiness won’t be recognized unless there is something to compare it to. To be unholy is to have some serious rough spots in our make-up. We were born into sin, with the sin nature as our governor. Until we are born again Christians, we are enemies of God, and we are the opposite of being Holy (Romans 5:10). To be Holy is to have a degree of agape love (the God kind) operating in our lives on the regular. This love of God is patient, kind, faithful, easy to be entreated, full of grace towards others, and self-control has a good hold of your behavior. Walking in the fruit of our new recreated human spirits is walking in holiness (Galatians 5:22-23). Holiness sets a standard that keeps us in line with God’s plan and His way of getting things done. Yes, you got the job done, but “Sister Easily Offended” was bent out of shape from the way you handled things. Self-control is the stabilizing force behind Holiness. God said in His teachings, “Be ye Holy, because I Am Holy” (1 Peter 1:16). The holiness of God cannot be compared to any other level of holiness, because He is God. But He knows the benefits of being Holy will take you much further then acting outside of your better self with pride and arrogance. He is the Rock of our salvation, and the stability of our Holiness.
