Doing Good and Sharing with Others is Our Portion as Christians
It can be a sacrifice at times to do good for someone when we are preoccupied with something of great importance. It is a sacrifice at times to do good to others when we don’t feel like it, (which means, in that moment, your flesh is in control). To neglect being generous and to contribute to the needy is not pleasing to the Lord concerning this commandment in today’s text. To lend to the poor is to lend to the Lord (Proverbs 19:17), and God Himself will repay you. The less fortunate, and poor are a high concern for the Lord. Even in the old testament God told the Israelites to leave extra food out, and available for the poor and the sojourners that may pass by where Israel was camped during the wilderness experience. Many of the commandments of the Lord are predicated upon us understanding and obeying His word by living it everyday. The more we live the word of God, by obeying His commandments, the easier it is to walk in many of the areas necessary for victorious living. Do good and share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
