To Be A Hoarder is To Be in Bondage
Because of so many choices and an abundance of tempting eye candy, we could get caught up in yielding to the lust of the eyes. Being on guard against all kinds of greed is the topic today. Wanting more than we need is birthed from a position of lack, lack of many necessary provisions, and unnecessary ones. We get desperate at times and want to heap up more and more, because we are well acquainted with lack in our lives for a long period of time. There is always available to everyone the immoderate desire for wealth, and the greedy longing to have more. It is a trap of the enemy to use vanity as a temptation to lure you into doing the wrong thing. Hoarders are slaves to this very thing of wanting more and more, it is a false sense of security having a lot of stuff. And many times it is in reality, stuff equal to junk. Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions, but the rule of thumb is to be content no matter what state you’re in. Paul said, “I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation” (Philippians 4:12-13). There is work to be done in building ourselves up into the potential of being content no matter what comes. We are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus our Lord, and we can do all things through Him as He strengthens us.
